What is Ganglion Cysts?
Ganglion cyst is a bump or a soft tissue mass which occur below the skin and mostly seen on the wrist part or may be connected to the underlying joint. It composed of thick fluid which may or may not be painful. It is also referred with other name wrist cyst, Bible cyst etc. It does not spread and also not dangerous.
Causes of Ganglion Cysts
Causes of ganglion are not certain. It may occur because of rheumatoid arthritis or it may occur because of some occupational factor such as overuse of wrist and finger and because of more pressure and it lead to ganglion cysts. It is also occur due to injury or tendon injury. Trauma can also trigger these cysts.
Symptoms of Ganglion Cysts
Occurrence of lump is possible symptoms. It may be painful if making more use of wrist or the area in which it is occurred otherwise it is not painful. Tingling or burning can be experienced if it touches the nerve. It may be difficult to the patient to wear the shoes.
Treatment of Ganglion Cysts
Firstly just observed it but don't treat until it become painful and rest is the most common treatment which is always advisable. Anti-inflammatory medication is useful to decrease the pain and steroid injection should be used to avoid hypopigmentation. Surgery can be advisable when other treatments are fail and it is done for the recurrences of these cysts. Shoes must be wearing which should not rub the cysts.
