Skin Diseases - Index I
When one suspect an infection, a doctor can
scrape
off some material from the skin
and to examine it under a microscope.
The material can also be sent to a laboratory, where the specimen is placed in a culture medium (a substance which makes it possible micro-organisms to develop).
If the specimen contains bacteria, mycètes, or viruses, they develop in the culture and can be identified.
