Find Used Hot Tubs
A hot tub is a small pool filled with hot water and used for various purposes such as soaking, relaxation, hydrotherapy, reading or meditation.
Ideally, you would find a used hot tub at a dealer. Generally the situation will be that someone who financed their hot tub was unable to make the payments and it was repossessed. This is the ideal place to buy a used hot tub because these will usually be "refurbished" or "remanufactured" hot tubs. You can also check the newspapers; when you decide to pay a visit to a seller, get a professional with you to check the hot tub status, to make a serious inspection. Many stores offer used spas as well.
Compare the price with the price of a new similar hot tub; figure if your time and money worth the effort to buy the used hot tub.
Things to consider before buying used-tubs
- The components should be fully tested and backed by the manufacturer's warranty.
- Consider what material you want. Today most hot tubs are made of acrylic, which is easier to take care of and longer lasting than fiberglass.
- Make sure you see the hot tub full of water before you consider purchasing it.
- How is the seating configured? Are you able to move about easily?
- You won't know if it leaks if it's been sitting without water for the last six months.
- With water inside, turn on the system, making sure all the jets and everything works.
- Determine your budget.
- How long has the manufacturer been in business?
- Don't forget that you will need to allow for access to the equipment compartment for service and that extra space around the perimeter will be needed if you intend to fit a cover lift.
- Choose the size of a hot tub according to how many people will use it.
- Make sure the controls and the display all work.
- Thoroughly clean the used hot tubs with a diluted bleach solution before use.
Make sure that you look through as many models and designs as you possibly can before making any final decisions, and ask your friends and family for references as well.
