What is Granuloma Annulare?

Granuloma Annulare is a chronic swelling usually in the form of a well defined, deep seated, dermic nudule. Clinical it is marked by chronic induration and scarring, histologically, histiocyte infiltration in the corium is its special features. They are very common in the tropics.

What are the causes of Granuloma Annulare ?

There are several causes of Granuloma Annulare:

  • Tuburculosis
  • Leprosy
  • Septic
  • Yaws
  • Sarcoid
  • Epitheliomas
  • Drugs like Bromides and Iodides
  • Deep fungi like actinomycosis etc.
  • Leishmaniasis
  • Secondary metastases
  • Syphilis, granuloma inguinale and Lymphogranuloma inguinale
  • Reticuloses like micosis fungoids, hodgkin's disease, etc.
