A warm and dry raincoat is something that is a must during the rainy seasons. Since it has to face harsh weather conditions there are bound to be some repairs that would need fixing from time to time. Given here are a few tips using which you can yourself fix a raincoat, in case of some minor repairs. Rubber raincoats for instance can be easily fixed if something were to go wrong with them. Slits or punctures can be the problem with these types of raincoats. All that you need to do is to turn the raincoat inside out and then lay out the damaged area on a flat surface. You can then apply rubber glue on to the puncture or slit. After some time you can always test the damaged area by slowly tugging along the slit.
Fixing a raincoat
If you are someone who has a fabric raincoat that has a tear you can once again use a glue to fix the tear. There are special glues that are available in stores for different types of fabric. There are instances when raincoats are made up of materials such as gabardine. In these cases you will need to sew the area which has got damaged, since glue won’t work in this case. In such cases you need to get a spool of thread which is similar to that of the raincoat and then sew up the tear. Make sure that you sew up the damaged area using small as well as even stitches. This is important since this type of sewing will ensure that the repair will be less conspicuous.
There are times when you may need to repair a hole in raincoats. They too can be repaired easily with the help of a patch and rubber glue. You will need to cut the rubber patch according to the measurement of the hole and then stick it on to the damaged area using the clear rubber glue. You can use all these handy tips when fixing raincoats.
