Types of Dentures

There are many different implant systems available and when competently used they can all deliver a highly reliable form of treatment. There are three main types of dentures: complete, partial, and overdentures.

The type of denture you will need is based on how many remaining natural teeth you have and your individual needs.

  • Complete dentures cover your entire jaw and can be used in place of your upper teeth, lower teeth or both. Complete dentures consist of artificial teeth and gums. They rest directly on your gums and are used if you have no remaining natural teeth.
  • Partial dentures fit around your remaining, healthy teeth. Partial dentures usually have artificial teeth and gum, connected by a metal framework. Partial dentures are usually held in place by clasps that attach to your natural teeth.
  • Overdentures fit over your few remaining teeth or dental implants. Your teeth or implants give the denture stability, so it's less likely to shift in your mouth. To fit an overdenture, your natural teeth usually need to be reshaped to fit in the denture.

Get the suggestion of the professional dentist who could pick the right one for you. You can hide that you wear dentures. Others will surely identify your dentures as natural teeth. But you have to pick the right and suitable one for your mouth. Search for the best and select the one that will fit your need.
