Where to buy vietnamese clothing
In Vietnam, the clothing of people reflects on their culture and history to a great deal. People are usually particular about what they wear and this becomes even more important especially on special occasions and other functions.
The majority of people, especially in North Vietnam and South Vietnam, wear cotton clothes predominantly. However, the style of clothing differs from region to region in Vietnam. While men in North Vietnam love to wear trousers and shirts, farmers in the same region prefer some loose upper garment along with baggy trousers made of cotton. Farmers prefer loose cotton trousers because of the nature of their work and the kind of climate Vietnam has. While working in fields full of water and mud, farmers actually roll their trousers up above their knees to prevent them getting wet from the water and mud. Due to the sweat inducing heat, they prefer cotton clothing which absorbs sweat better than any other kind of clothing. This is the reason why most of the Vietnamese prefer cotton clothing to any other form of clothing.
Also, they love to wear sandals and keep it simple because of the kind of temperature they are supposed to live in. Due to hot temperatures, which are pretty regular in Vietnam, people prefer sandals to shoes mostly, unless they need to attend something official. One of the most important clothing accessories for Vietnamese farmers is the cone shaped hat that they wear. It’s usually made of straw and it helps them protect themselves against the heat of the sun and the heavy rains, both of which are very common in Vietnam.
People in South Vietnam usually prefer western style clothing and this is especially true with men, thanks to the kind of impact the American way of life has had over them. Women all over Vietnam still prefer their traditional wear over any other form of clothing.
