Vicks Vaporub - Treatment of Fungus using Vicks Vaporub

Vicks Vaporub is a cough suppressant topical analgesic. It's a very common treatment habitually used against the cough.

But unlikely, Vicks Vaporub is also known for its effectiveness to treat Nail Fungus.

read many testimonies about a successful treatment of Nail Fungus by Vicks Vaporub.

It's what is called a "home remedy" and then it hasn't the caution of official medicine.

It don't work for anyone although, but as it is a very common and affordable medication, with quasi no side effect, why don't give it a try ?

How to use Vicks Vaporub ?

The reported usage is to rub your nail or toenail with a generous dose of Vicks two times a day, and under a few days, you will find it improved.

The treatment is rather long, and you will have to insist for about six months or more to be freed of the nail fungus.

Preferably, you will have to continue the treatment until the new nail is completely grows, because if a parcel of the infected nail remain, the fungus will reappear.

So it appear that Vicks Vaporub don't really kill the fungus in many cases, but it seems at a minimum to prevent it from developing.

Some people reports also the darkening of the nail in some cases. If this happens to you, you will be better to try other treatment as tea tree oil or hydrogen peroxide.

It isn't well known why Vicks Vaporub is effective to treat nail fungus , but as you can see bellow, Vicks contains some essential oils, and some have known anti fungal effects (turpentine, a component of Tea Tree Oil)
