How to apply eyeliner? - applying eyeliner -liquid eyeliner application

Eye liner is one of the most commonly and widely use eye makeup. It is the tool without which the makeup box is incompete. Eye liner gives the eye a look that it deserves. Eye liner is used to make the eyes more prominent and create an illusion of thicker lashes. Eye lining is done with a black or brown eye liner on the top lid of each eye and sometimes under the lower lashes. The line should be smooth instead of a harsh line.

Applying Eyeliner

Shape and define your eyes with eyeliner after you've applied eye shadow and before applying mascara. Whether you choose a soft line or a dramatic stroke, eyeliner draws attention.

How to apply eyeliner

  • Choose an eyeliner appropriate for your eye color. Brown, navy and charcoal accent light eyes well, while brown and plum shades flatter brown eyes. Make sure your liner complements the color of your shadow.
  • Assuming you have a steady hand (if not, try this sitting down so you can steady your arm by placing your elbow on a table), position your brush, pencil, or applicator so it is as close to the lash-line along the eyelid as possible.
  • Then draw a line from the inner to outer corner using one fluid stroke, following the curvature of the eyelid. Do not extend the line past the outer corner of the eye or hug the tear-drop area of the eye. To start, keep the line as thin as possible, and if a thicker line is desired, repeat the process either across the entire lash-line or simply on the outer third of the lid along the lashes.
  • Making the line along the eyelid a solid, even one, starting thin at the front third of the lid and becoming slightly thicker at the back third of the lid can be an attractive classic look.

Best tips on aplying eyeliner

  1. For the bottom of you eye, again rest your dominant hand against your face to line, and use your the other hand to help keep the lower lid taut.
  2. Use an eyeliner that has a mechanical, twist-up-pencil type tip. I find that these are the easiest to apply!
  3. Use short feathery strokes instead of trying to draw one solid line.
  4. Keep your eye slightly open. Tilt your head back and look at the mirror with both eyes open. That allows you to get very close to your eyelash line.
  5. If you use a pencil or crayon type liner, instead of a liquid one, put the line on and use a cotton bud tip to smooth out the line. This makes it a lot easier and quicker.
  6. Applying eyeliner half way along the bottom lash line makes your eyes look rounder and more defined. Don't worry too much about a straight neat line; simply smudge the line with a cotton bud or your finger so it's soft and natural looking.
  7. When using an eye pencil, open your mouth slightly to relax the eye muscles. It will make lining a lot easier without having to pull or tug at your lid.
  8. Apply eyeliner as close as possible and even into the lashes to avoid the white line you sometimes get when liner and lashes don't connect.
